چکیده
An epidemiological investigation was carried out on a food borne outbreak in a National Type Primary School (Chinese). The findings of the outbreak are reported. Of the 495 Chinese students (ages between 7 12 years) interviewed, 321 were exposed to one or more of the food items sold at the school canteen. The median incubation period was one hour for the outbreak. The main symptoms were related to the upper gastro-intestinal tract (nausea and vomiting). Fried meehoon (rice oermicelli) was suspected as being the responsible vehicle. The causative organism was Staphylococcus aureus. 48 cases were treated in the Main Health Centre, Kapar.

It has generally been accepted that enterotoxin production is confined to coagulase-positive staphylococci, although the isolation of enterotoxigenic coagulase-negative strain has been reported. 1.2.3.4 Coagulase-positive staphylococci which produce enterotoxins have been found in 96.2 percent, 5 92 percent, 6 44 percent, 7 or 95 percent 8 of the strains isolated from food products involved in ...
متن کاملNoncontiguous Finished Genome Sequence of Staphylococcus aureus KLT6, a Staphylococcal Enterotoxin B-Positive Strain Involved in a Food Poisoning Outbreak in Switzerland
We present the first complete genome sequence of a Staphylococcus aureus strain assigned to clonal complex 12. The strain was isolated in a food poisoning outbreak due to contaminated potato salad in Switzerland in 2009, and it produces staphylococcal enterotoxin B.
